From her diary... The Hot Chapathi and her warm love🤗
The bus stop in the morning was full of people with their eyes eagerly awaiting the chariot which would carry them to their work palace. I stood along hoping to get a seat, I laughed within thinking how funny it is to get a single ticket while I carry my baby in my womb. The bus arrived, I managed to compete with the people. Holding the supporting rod with my tightened lips I boarded the bus. The day was promising as I could get a seat. My mind started thinking about the office duties, the customers - a few very obliging and a few thoughtless.Meanwhile the bus had reached the bank stop. I got down walked for a few minutes reached the bank. Sitting in my chair I sighed.
At sharp 10.A.M I started the departmental work, the customer queries, account opening. Since it was satellite branch it had only 3 staffs where only I knew the local language so most of the customers came to me regarding their queries. Since the bank remains close the next day ,there was a mad rush at the cash counter. I didn’t have a single minute to even blink my eyes. By the time I saw the clock it was already 2:10 pm.I closed the cash counter and moved to rest room to have my lunch. I sat there relaxed for a minute. I didn’t understand if it was my hunger or the little love within. The customers sitting outside had involved in the loud conversation which struck my ears. “These staffs lead a lavish life, look at them; they always take complete break. They don’t open the cash counter a minute early. They never understand how busy we are with our lives!” shouted a customer. At that movement I just felt like slapping him but I controlled and smiled for being so silly.
At sharp 2:30 I reported back at the cash counter. The old man came to me, after the deposition he said “Madam I’m seeing your work since 2 years, you provide a good service unlike many other bankers. I’m glad to see such a dedicated staff. Please ignore if you hear comments that come from a few insensitive people.” I felt al little better after that. I smiled and continued my work. The clock showed 5:30 when I was back in my seat. I walked towards the bus stop. It was raining cats and dogs! I got into the bus around 6:00pm.My little love was hungry. I was so tired. I called my aunt who lived just a few minutes away from my house as my husband had been to native. She said that she will be sending her daughter to pick me up from the bus stop. The bus stopped and I got down. I felt better looking at her daughter standing with an umbrella.
The hot water was kept ready and a fresh smelling towel that was a real feast. As I entered the kitchen the warmth of the hot tawa , the aroma of hot coffee had made me feel so good. Aunt said “My dear, I know you are so tired. I have kept the Chapathi dough ready, you can have hot chapathis with some coffee”. She served hot Chapthis with tomato gravy. Each bite was contentment for two lives. The thoughts that made me sad had just vanished .My heart and soul had filled with her warm love and had no space for anything else!
Her son who came rushing towards her asking for something to eat. She gave him a laddo in a small plate. He had laddo sitting beside me. After which she took him near the wash basin washed his mouth and wiped with her saree edge. I saw The Motherhood in her every single action.
