Love ❤️ Is to be Kind...
On that evening
sitting on her warm bed, she was planning how to spend the next day's holiday.
Her phone rings, he had called her. After a short conversation he asked what
we're her plans for the next day and if she could meet him. She as usual started
explaining her plans but it was abruptly stopped by him as he expected just
yes/no!
After the phone call, she felt how can
someone speak so rudely or if it was the way! Anyway, she had already said
"yes". The next day she was picked up by him and he drove to a nearby
city. They had met for the first time that day. It took some time to break the
ice and then the conversation went on well. He did not have nectar on his
tongue, it was quite new to her. They walked towards the café and it started
drizzling suddenly, just like it happens in a novel. They stood by the building
roof; cool breeze caressed them. After a few minutes the drizzling stopped,
they walked into the café and spent some time and drove back to the city where
she lived. She had another couple of hours to reach back her hostel so decided
to go to a mall nearby, sitting in an ice cream parlor he asked her if she
could read his palm. That day she never knew that she was reading the lines of
her life from his palm!!
He dropped her back, now the time had
come to reflect on what the day had given to them. As she opened the door of
her room, the dusky light through the window welcomed her. That night with
fuming coffee the new war had already begun in her! A few thoughts which said
how can someone so rude can be a good friend and a few other which said it's
hard to find someone so frank and true!! He, sleeping on his bed, gazing at the
night sky through the window started thinking if something like what she told
could really happen, he had the brightest smile of the day! He had never
realized until next morning that he was bit rude to her. He read the messages
and decided to meet her soon...
Will
she agree to meet him?
Was
he sorry?
Do
they meet up?
She
Meera, small town girl. She had family like friends
and friends like family. She was pursuing her master's degree, who spent most
of her time at Shri Maatha's shrine talking philosophy with her friend. Always
loved to make people around her laugh, enjoyed every little moment, read palms,
loved travelling but not to fall in love with someone! She had seen her friends
crying for being betrayed, for not being loved, not being able to keep up the
promises and hardly found someone who had no regrets falling for someone. She
had fixed in her mind that no relationship or bond that she makes go beyond
friendship.
He
Madhu, who looked more matured than his age.
The life had taught him enough lessons. He had no belief in astrology or
anything of that kind, all he believed was in hard work. He was more ambitious
and hard working. He had seen his friends and a couple of relatives who had
fallen in love and had a happy life after that, so he had a strong feeling that
he should tie a knot with a girl after falling in love with her. He believed
that lucky is the one who has found someone special to fall in love and luckiest
is the one who is being loved. He felt it’s impossible to be the luckiest as it
is hard to be loved by someone than to love!
He had decided to be good to her so after a
month he travelled to meet her and decided to keep a good friendship. He had
gratitude towards her as she had met him and read his palm. He reached the café
near her college and then called her. She had visited the same café and had
just boarded the bus. When she checked her phone after reaching her room, she
saw the messages and missed calls. He had waited for a couple of hours already!
Though she didn't want to meet him she felt bad as he awaited her for more than
an hour, quickly she started from her place to the café. He thought she didn't
want to meet him so avoided the calls and decided to travel back. By then she
called him and requested to wait for a few more minutes.
They met, he stroked a few chocolates on the
table and asked her to take them. The thoughts again popped in her mind which
said he will be the same and can never be sweet! She refused them and he
realized his mistake. He took all the Chocolates and offered her with a smile,
she smiled back and put them in her bag!!
She took him to a beach, sitting on the shore they
exchanged their thoughts. He loved being with her, her talks had nothing to do
with pressure, tension, deadlines all it had was fun, laughter, stories,
pranks.
They waited for the boat which had to take
them back to another side of the shore, stars slowly started appearing on the
sky! She had to reach back or else she will not be allowed to get in the hostel
once it crosses 7.pm. He was tensed what if they were late, but this girl
started explaining how she would manage selling some food by the beach side
till the next dawn.
He caressed her for being so adorable!
Somehow, she reached back her hostel. There were thirty seconds for 7.pm and
her warden who knew that she would be the last person to reach stood there with
the lock and key. As she appeared there, warden pulled her ears gently and
smiled at her, she twinkled her eyes and rushed to her room.
Will this new friendship disturb
her?
Is he learning new things from
her?
Once she reached her room, even before leaving her foot wears she
had sat in the chair! A lot many thoughts were cooking within. She deeply
breathed for a while and decided to take a shower. The cold shower made her
calm, sitting before a lit lamp she prayed and then meditated for some time.
The thoughts slowly started settling one by one. She opened her books and
started preparing for the next day's classes. The thoughts anyhow made its way
and grinned in-between to get its attention, not this time she cleared them all
and focused on her studies.
The conversation went on, she made herself not be more affected by this.
Finally, when her most waited Saturday afternoon arrived, she sat by the
windowpane opened her dairy and wrote a few lines. She decided not to overthink
and remember that even this is a friendship just like she had with many others.
She with the bag hung on her shoulder travelled to shrine, spent some time
there and then watched a movie with her friend.
With every passing month she had become more firmer paid less attention to all
those thoughts but had a good friendship with him. Her best friend Pearl once
said, " I'm so sure that you will marry him in coming years", for
which she had just waved her hand and had laughed. These sentences here and
there, stirred her emotions for which she had to spend some time to get them
settled.
Madhu was a practical man, he remained composed and free from ambiguities. He
always believed that ignorance is bliss so gave no attention to thoughts that
may disturb him. He constantly reminded her that they shared a good friendship
and nothing beyond that. He had slowly started to have some nectar on his
tongue even then he was always frank and true.
One year had already passed, it was now she had to get into internship. All her
friends had tried their luck, they had applied for various companies in and
around their city and other cities too. Many of the applications were rejected,
most of the students were awaiting their fate with their crossed fingers along
with her. The luck was in her favor, she had got placed in the company finally
a big smile!! and the smile broadened because it was very close to his company
too.
Will they meet up every day?
Will the new work atmosphere give her stress?
Will she be able to cope up?
The day had come, she shifted to a
small room from where the company cab picked her up. The company provided free
food so that headache was relieved. The next big thing was the project guide! The
labs had the glass walls in the pharma company, and she could see through them,
the guides yelling at the intern students, she had also heard from her seniors
that it would never be a cake walk but a hectic period of a month. She was
asked to go through a set of manuals, a few schemes and was not let into the R
& D lab. One of her fellow mates who had started her internship a week
before itself had told her that they do not let the students into the lab until
and unless the students are well versed in reaction mechanisms which was most
difficult for her! She believed that she can still make it, and finally she was
introduced to her guide, the guide was so friendly and good that she was not
forced to learn any mechanism. The guide taught her the procedures and
techniques in a way none of the other guides did. All wanted to show their
power or their knowledge but here it was not so. While all her fellow mates
were struggling to get into the lab, she was already taught to carry out
reactions and to capture its results. While all the students once back to their
rooms, opened their books to learn those mechanisms she was free to move in the
city. Every morning while she prayed, she bowed before the lit lamp with
gratitude for all the god's grace.
They had met twice during those fifteen
days; it was a couple days before her birthday she fell sick and did not wanted
to take any leave neither swallow the pill. It was a day before her birthday he
called and only then realized that she was not well and would not even take any
medicines but waits until it cures on its own. So, on that evening he took her
to the ayurvedic doctor, bought her medicines and some fruits. Took her to the
nearby café and they had the dinner together. He dropped her to the place where
she lived, its then he got to know that she lived here. She could see so much
kindness in his every act and could not stop herself from saying it. She had
never met any man who was frank and kind at the same time. He said," It’s
not because you I have taken this pain, for any friend of mine I would have
been so." every word was true!
She got into her room did all her works took her ayurvedic medicine applied
some eucalyptus oil on her forehead and slept tight. The images of his face
flashed, and she tried to sleep. She started getting the call from her friends
she spoke to them and she got a call from him too. She was asked to come near
the entrance, she had felt it was a prank, but it was not! He was there
standing with a brightest smile. It was 12 a.m. and he took her out, she had
never imagined that someday under the moonlight she would be talking to one of
her favorites on her birthday. It was one of the most beautiful memories that
she had made. Them
surprise was not just his brightest smile but a delightful present!
What
was that?
Will she be fine?
Will he remember that it was her birthday?
He had reached back his place at
10:30p.m that night. He was tired but still managed to prepare a dessert that
he wanted to present her on her birthday at 12 a.m. As he wished he reached her
place by 11:55 p.m. and called her. She simply said that she could not come
down as she was too tired and too sleepy as she thought it was a prank, he even
agreed for that, but when she felt the bitterness in his "it’s okay",
immediately she came down and saw the brightest smile of the day, it was the
same with him as well. The two sat at a roof top café, watching
the jeweled sky, as the dessert melted in her mouth busting
the flavor of coffee, melted her heart for the kindness that he poured
without any expectations.
He dropped her back and she felt that
she was slowly falling for him and when she suddenly heard her phone singing
the alarm, that's when she realized it was a dream. She sat up and
rubbed her palm and placed them on her eyes, and when she opened her eyes, the
dessert box was right Infront of her, she had received it through the window of
the reception counter at the ground floor. She could not go out of the room
after 11p.m as it was gated community for students.
The next day was promising, she was
little better than the previous week. After her work at the lab, she checked
her phone and there were many messages to wish on her birthday, first she
clicked on his message, which said ‘Call me, once you’re done with your work’.
He picked her from the company, and they spent some time at
a café that served the best food which she could not enjoy as she was
not well. And finally, the day had come, she had completed her internship. They
promise of good friendship was assured.
Will
he make her realize it’s nothing more than a friendship?
Will
she change her thoughts?
Will
the friendship break?
With a lot and lot of memories that she
treasured, travelling back was not easy! Her dainty room, her lovely guide,
wonderful workplace, cozy cafeteria, great friend what not?!
The classroom had the so many stories,
Pearl had awaited to hear from her, her smile had already asked Meera the
questions which was answered by the smile again, the two sat at the IT block
sharing their experiences. The days turned promising, months passed, and the
exams approached once again. With her friend along, studying had become so joyous,
writing the answers had not stopped her bringing the fun that they had while
learning it. The exams were done, both were happy about it. Now came the time
for the excursion, Pearl and Meera were super excited, it was this trip that
they bagged so much of sweet memories also some gifts for their loved ones.
Meera wanted to gift something special to Madhu, but what? A good cotton shirt?
She felt it may not be there with him forever! Shoes? What if the size does not
match! Something that remains with him for long. She bought a good lovely
colorful blanket from Shimla! Pearl could not stop herself from teasing Meera
for being overprotective regarding the blanket that she bought for Madhu. Both
Meera and Pearl did not miss their prayer throughout the journey, each reminded
one another. The journey came to an end, the students reached their city, a few
were sick, a few were fine. Meera had caught with cold and throat infection and
could hardly speak but the thoughts in her mind went on speaking to her throughout.
She had reached her room by 3 in the morning, so she slept and could not wait
to talk to him. “Hello” – He said. She had prepared well to tell him that she
liked him more than a friend and wanted to know if it was the same with him as
well! He could sense the seriousness, though her throat could hardly make some
sound she had spoken for 45 minutes. He said even he liked her as a friend and
promised to meet her soon. Meera asked him in so many ways but he did not want
to make any promises.
Madhu, driving towards the company had
spoken to her over the phone. He did not know what to tell her. It’s not that
he did not like her more than a friend, but he was scared if he could be the
one that she always wished to be with her. He wanted to make her realize what
was going around him, what are his plans, goals and so on. He felt it’s better
to talk face to face than over a phone. He knew that Meera was too emotional,
she thinks or defines mostly from her heart and not from her brain! He on the
other hand was too practical and hardly decides anything from his heart. That
evening he had ordered a big teddy bear which had “best friends” written on it!
The days passed, Meera was surprised to
receive such a big parcel from the hostel office. She rushed to her room, dropped
her bag on the chair, jumped into her bed and carefully opened it to discover a
lovely teddy bear with “best friends” written no it!
Is she made ready to hear what he
would say through this present?
Is he not ready to take this
friendship even further?
Will this friendship come to an
end?
The
sea shore was calm, the two had sat on the rock silently for some time. Meera
asked some stupid question just to break the ice. The conversation slowly came
to the point where it had to reach. Madhu explained a few things that he had
labelled as hard truth. Meera did not want him to be so much practical as it
never belonged to her way. But she knew that it was his very nature to be true
that’s where he belonged, so she agreed to all the points that he mentioned.
She spoke out what she wanted to tell him. The two conversed and then the
promise to live together forever was made! Both had the magic in their eyes as
they travelled back. He had the warm blanket on him that night and she had the
big fat teddy hugged tight….
