A Mother's Unbreakable Bond: Love Beyond the Years!!!!
That morning was particularly tough. As I was about to leave for the bus, hearing him call out “Ma, Ma, Ma” and seeing his tears really tugged at my heart. It filled my eyes with tears, just like any other mother would feel in that moment. It made me think of all the times mothers might have had to scold or discipline their child, not because they wanted to, but because they were overwhelmed with so many chores and responsibilities. Meanwhile, the child just wanted to be close, to feel their mother’s presence.
That day, my colleague, sitting next to me, noticed my distress and gently consoled me. She said, “Don’t worry, don’t feel guilty, whether you’re working or not working. Every mother feels guilt sometimes because when she’s caught up with other tasks, she may not be able to give the attention her baby is asking for.” It struck a chord with me. My own son, who’s already in grade 7, had just that morning asked me to let him sleep for another five minutes. He was hugging me so tightly, wanting the comfort of my warmth. But I couldn’t give it to him because of the other things that needed to be done. It was a bittersweet reminder that our bond is still just as strong.
Later that same evening, another colleague shared her own experience. Her son, now in college, still wanted her by his side for even the simplest things, like choosing a shirt or going shopping. It made me realize that this connection, this deep bond between a mother and her child, doesn’t diminish with age. Whether they’re an infant, a school-aged child, a college student, or even a grown man who’s already a father himself, the bond remains as strong and as beautiful as ever.
That day, while going for a walk with Sushan, I shared these thoughts with him, though he was busy talking to his own mom about something she needed to tell him. It was in that moment that I truly felt the depth of the mother-son bond. It’s something that transcends time and life stages, a connection that remains unbreakable and full of love. It really is so beautiful, isn’t it?
