Home !!!!

We come home after a long time, and there she is… making everything feel just right. Our sun-kissed clothes, kept safely inside, are neatly placed in their usual spot — as if they’ve been patiently waiting for us. And then there are our cups… the ones we always use for chai and coffee — already set out, like they missed us too. She even keeps a separate strainer ready, just the way I like it.

I still remember how she once got me that chai strainer just because she noticed the little way I strain my tea. Such a small thing… but it means so much. And she doesn’t stop there — she’ll say, “Try this chai leaves, I felt you might like it,” keeping it ready so I can enjoy something new. There were many times she told me not to add ginger every day — someone had said it’s not good. I never really stopped, so she would quietly hide it, hoping I’d feel too lazy to search for it and skip it. But later, when she understood it’s okay for me, she made fresh ginger powder and kept it right next to the chai leaves. The aroma is so fresh, so comforting… it speaks everything without words.

I think this is what love looks like — constantly finding ways to add something beautiful to the lives of the people you care about. That’s where we truly belong… in these little, thoughtful efforts.

Whenever she attends a family ceremony, they send her back with delicacies — laddus, holige, prasada — and when visitors come home, they bring pickles, gojju, chutney powders. She lovingly saves each of them as little treats for us. My heart feels so full of gratitude seeing how much she thinks of us, how much she wants to give.

She grows fresh vegetables, carefully picking the best ones for us to take back. Sometimes, she feels a little sad just because she couldn’t give us freshly harvested special bananas. She plans special menus, makes all the delicacies we miss, and even arranges them thoughtfully so we can carry some back with us to Bengaluru — a little piece of home with us.

These little gestures… they make coming home feel so warm, so personal. It’s as if the home remembers you, understands you, and welcomes you back in the sweetest way. Seeing your things ready, anticipating your comfort, makes you feel seen, cared for, and deeply at home. It brings a soft, unexplainable happiness… the kind that just stays in your heart.
