In the quiet crackle of fire and the first sip of chai, I found pieces of home...

After the ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಕಳ್ಳೀ moment, he knew — without a word — what my heart was craving.
We wandered into a tiny chai shop, tucked like a secret in the folds of the valley.
It didn’t feel like a shop — it felt like stepping into someone's warm kitchen, full of old stories and soft laughter.
There she stood — a beautiful woman with a smile that reached her eyes.
"Chai?" she asked, and we simply nodded, as if that one word carried the weight of a hundred comforts.
She moved across the large, open kitchen, not rushing, not pretending — just brewing fresh chai with the care only real places have.
No flask chai, no shortcuts — just the slow magic of real things.
In the corner, the firewood stove crackled gently, a kettle humming over it.
I kept glancing, drawn to it like a moth to warmth.
Sushan caught my look, smiled his small smile, and said, "Sit, it’s okay."
And so I did.
On a simple wooden seat, by the fire, feeling the sparks kiss the cold air and the warmth seep into my soul.
No noise. No rush. Just the sound of life breathing easy.
Behind me, another woman folded momos with hands that seemed to know the shape of love.
Everything felt stitched together — chai, fire, food, and a kind of happiness that has no big name.
The beautiful lady returned, handed me a wooden block to sit on properly, smiled like old friends do, and left us to our little peace.
Maybe it was business.
Maybe it wasn’t.
All I know is, it didn’t feel fake. It felt like it was meant to be.
She brought our chai — fresh, fragrant, full of soul.
Of course, the little one couldn’t resist making a video, teasing, laughing.
And yet, somehow, I managed to sip in peace, thanks to our hero.
A single cup of chai.
A crackling fire.
A snug place in a cold valley.
A boy’s laughter.
One beautiful woman’s kindness.
I teased him, "Oho, you ordered a plate of momos just to keep looking at her, no?"
But I knew better.
He ordered because he knows — knows what I love, always.
Melodaramma.
The Yathang valley, so cold it touches your bones.
The woman with the kindest smile.
The fire’s soft crackle.
My favorite kitchen dream.
And the littlest heart, who now holds every piece of my world together.
Without him, even the most perfect chai would feel incomplete.
