Stop!No more...

Image
Once we reached our hometown late in the night around 10 O'clock,I settled on the neatly set sofa like a piglet. Sipping hot filter coffee we started discussing about the rainfall .. I was delighted recollecting the sweet memories,The days when Radio was the only reliable source of media during monsoon.Waking up by 6 even without alarm set, to hear 'Pradeshika Varthe' where she said "ಕೊಡಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದುವರಿದ ಮಳೆ,ಶಾಲಾ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳಿಗೆ ೨ ದಿನಗಳ ರಜೆ ಘೋಷಣೆ"(2 days of leave sanctioned to all the schools and colleges due to heavy rain)After which I used to happily burry myself in the warm bed.  The holidays spent by hunting wild fruits like passion fruit, rose apple, star apple, berries. Fighting with each other for extra bamboo shoot pieces in the curry, stream fishing, making paper boats, playing dice games, chennamane, awaiting to hear about the filling of Bethri Bridge so that we get more holidays.. Today when we go home it's not the same, the monsoon is not joyous!The...

A blessing in disguise...

It was our final year MSc organic chemistry practical exam.We had to learn so many organic reaction and their mechanisms,by the time I reached the 5-6th equation I used to forget the rest !I decided to go through these equations only after revising other experiment. My friend Sushmitha Naik (Sussmi)had written all these equations and practiced ,I asked her that set of papers to study she said that she would give it little later, fine I waited for sometime and she gave it,she had written each equation clearly may be thrice.I was going  through those equations by then it was time to stand in attendance order to pick the token numbers,so I hurriedly put those set of papers in my record and stood. My turn came and my token number was 1.I felt so dejected ,many thoughts popped up in my mind. What if I'm unable to write the equations, what I fail to do well in viva and so on.I said myself not to worry and to be calm.Fine the external called my number I went and sat before him.He ...

My plight in the flight!

Image
It was the flight from Bali to Singapore, Though we separated by aisle I was equipped with my plans.Sushan had a good plan of going to deep sleep as he thought that he may not get hassled. How can I allow this to happen😉  I saw my row,a well built man was next to me and next to him was an empty seat,I asked him if he knew about the occupancy of that seat.He with a big smile said that he was anticipating his cousin there. My mind said that it may be a girl otherwise why will he give up window seat! After sometime another man came and occupied that window seat😝  I glanced at Sushan, next to him was a man, struggling to keep his baby quiet.Even before I think about it someone poked me ,I turned to the lady with a baby in her hand,I didn't speak anything just got up and gave her the way and she thanked me.   I sat there, diagonally opposite to Sushan, all my dreams of annoying him came down crushing. The crew person gave a final call where he said there are a few seats rem...

The Frozen Window

Image
I was said not to forget to close the windows as chilling breeze fills the room by morning .I started howling saying that I always forget things just to annoy him and to see the face he makes. Unfortunately  he was not annoyed, instead he was calm. Within I felt Oh-no! ,which I managed to hide.  The next day or the same night around 3 I couldn't bear the cold then I realized that I had not closed the windows after my long conversation over phone in the balcony also how I howled to annoy him.  Slowly I got up from the bed and made sure that he was asleep and started pulling some clothes I could find around and wore them on my pyjamas and slept quietly.Asusual he woke up the alarm and me along. He asked to touch the floor. It was frozen.I jumped out of the bed.He goggled at me and was trying to control his laughter. He said even after waking up in the mid night getting dressed for a fancy dress someone forgot to shut the window.I looked at the window but i...

The warmest memories of Himalaya

Image
We traveled from Dehradun to Sankri. The base camp of our Kedarkantha Trek.We literally experienced the expression "as cold as ice".The little kids with their shining eyes welcomed us.We all had Fuming Tea and listened keenly to our guide Lalit. We had to wake up early morning and get ready for our trek .   We all walked there ,spoke to the people around and went back to our allotted wooden houses. The house allotted to me was right infront of the Himalayan range, the moment I opened the door the very sight would be Himalayas. The room had a soothing scent of wood,it was cosy, warm bed, chunky blanket,no mosquitoes what more. For a while a pop up came up which said that instead of waking up early how good it would be if I slept happily ,wake up late and to have fuming coffee ,no no fought another thought! All these went on and I dunno when I slipped into a deep sleep.   The next day by 3 am I opened the door without any time lapse.Just a a sound tak-tak I was there ,I dunno...

The House by the Side of the stairs

Image
There is a house beside the stairs of our house.I never miss to see through its window not out of curiosity but out of love .   Each time I see through it the very sight is the kitchen, where a mother will be busy cooking something next to it I see the hall where Father will be sitting down the sofa with his legs stretched ,son lying on the sofa with his one hand on father's shoulder, daughter lying in the adjacent sofa with her one leg on father's lap,The voice of TV . Though they all are busy with their phone ,the television is running still they fill each other within; actions are subtle but deep is the love.   The very sight brings back my days at home when I and my Sister Shwetha Bharathesh annoyed Appa Sudhakar Shuntimane in the living room by pulling his hair, ear, drawing on his legs when he used to keep them stretched on the tepoy.Amma busy in the kitchen comes and takes attendance for filter coffee and goes back happily finding full attendance.    Whe...

The Story of Fuming Tea

Image
It was the first dawn at Singapore by then we had already realized we would not get the food as the way we desire never mind we had decided to go for a Cafe which was in the vicinity of our hotel.     All the  expenses were looked after by Sushan whereas my task was to convert it into Indian currency and exclaim "So costly!".I had decided to be selective. He asked what I wanted for breakfast I said him that one parota would be sufficient. He knew that this penny pinching lady ordered only one parota as she had a very BAD idea of preparing the tiny pack of poha back in the hotel.I read his mind and sniggered. He went to place the order.  Meanwhile someone occupied the table right beside me.He had ordered the tea,Server placed it before him and it was Fuming hot he didn't sip it.I started to imagine myself how well I would have relished this Tea which costed 150rupees.Even after my come back from imagination this ignorant fellow had not...
